WORKSHOPS:
Lyra Lab:
(My signature Intermediate/Advanced Lyra Workshop)
suggested length: 2-6 hours (depends on level of students and breaks).
Join T in his laboratory of aerial hoop, exploring unexpected transitions and dynamic pathways onto, in, and around the lyra. This workshop will take your hoop repertoire and methodology to the next level, mixing both skill-building and sequence creation into a jam-packed workshop that will leave your body exhausted, and your mind blown. This will be a creative, fun, but challenging workshop. Students must be already comfortable on lyra (ankle hang, front balance, back balance...), and capable enough to work on sequencing in the air. Ankle protection is encouraged but not required.

Advanced Lyra Choreography a.k.a. (“CERCEAUX-M-G”!)
suggested length 3-6 hours (for strong aerialists with extensive hoop training)
This workshop is going to push those lyra performers past their comfort zone. If you feel like you’ve learned “all the tricks” and you’re ready to graduate to a more intricate and thoughtful lyra technique. Learning will be done through a sequence, mostly containing familiar skills, but very odd and unusual ways of getting in and out of things, as well as provocative specified movement choreography. After learning the choreography, we will work on timing, and gesture, and by the end of it, you will have a higher level understanding of hoop vocabulary and movement practice.. You will also gain awareness of transition possibilities, and new ways of moving on the hoop.

CHOREOGRAPHY MONSTER:
suggested length: 1-2 hours.
for aerial hoop and trapeze
Choreography Monster is all about finding a more unique voice for yourself in the air. Beginning with a sequence of only 5 simple skills (bring your own plan, or make it up at the beginning), this workshop will guide you through a development process that will transform that sequence of skills into thoughtful and developed choreography full of personal research and transitions. Prerequisites are enough physical stamina to run an ever expanding sequence over and over during the workshop, as well as strong comfort maneuvering all around the trapeze; not for beginners.

Intro to Lyra/Aerial Hoop:
suggested length: 2 hours (for aerial students who haven't done much hoop)
The Lyra is a circular form of the trapeze. While it shares many similarities, it is its own unique apparatus that can open up a whole new world of aerial possibilities. This workshop will start you on your way to developing your higher lyra work. We will cover various ways of mounting and dismounting the lyra, as well as some of the core positions that branch out to further your lyra work. Some spinning technique will also be introduced.

Characterization through the Tricks:
(creativity/act creation/all apparatus) suggested length: 2-3 hours.
This workshop will help you explore the work of an actor in the air, bringing your character to life not just before you start your routine, but carrying it all the way through. Using techniques from my extensive training in physical theater, we will work on imbuing the functional elements of the tricks with life and story so the audience can emotionally connect more to your work. Bring a sequence or an excerpt from an act you're working on that's a minute long, with no/sustainable drops (you'll be running it over and over throughout
this workshop). Please wear neutral color training clothes for this workshop if possible to provide a "blank canvas".

Circus Shenanigans
suggested length: 1-2 hours
For the kid in all of us, T has created this fun "workshop" that is all about the fun of circus. We will play many games, both on the ground and some in the air, to explore the sillier side of our lives. These games are not only silly, but are great warmups to your circus training, getting your heart rate going and your imagination flowing. With T's extensive background as a youth (and youthful adult) educator, especially his tenure as Head Aerial Coach at Circus Smirkus Camp in Vermont, T brings an unbridled passion for the fun and joy that only circus can bring. This workshop can be done with minimal props, but the more toys available the better: (hula hoops, balls, jumpropes, traffic cones...etc)
